What should the CNA/Nurse Aide do if a patient vomits while in bed?

1. Turn the patient on their side. If unable to move the patient, turn the patient's head to the side to prevent aspiration. 2. Use an emesis basin to catch the vomit. 3. After the patient has finished vomiting, leave them on their side until they have recovered. 4. Rinse patient's mouth with cool water and wash their face with a cool washcloth. Change linens if necessary. 5. If patient is on I&O, measure or estimate volume of vomit. 6. Report the event to the nurse.
