Exam simulator that feels familiar
Use the CNA Exam Simulator to check your timing and stamina before test day. It matches the structure of a Nurse Aide written exam so the format feels familiar.
Who administers the CNA exam?
Every state in the USA administers its own CNA certification exam. In most states, it is a two-part exam with a written knowledge test and a skills evaluation. Depending on your state, your CNA exam will likely be administered by one of these third-party certification providers:
Pearson VUE's National NNAAP
The National Nurse Assistant Assessment Program (NNAAP) is the nation's largest CNA exam assessment program. Their written knowledge exam is 70 multiple-choice questions with four answer options.
You can take the NNAAP Nurse Aid exam in the following jurisdictions: Alabama, Alaska, California, Colorado, DC, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, Mississippi, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, Virgin Islands, Virginia, Washington.
Prometric's CNA Exam (Nurse Aide exam)
You'll be given 90 minutes to complete a 60-question written examination, and 30-40 minutes - to complete the clinical skills exam.
If you live in one of the following states, your CNA exam will most likely be administered by Prometric: Alabama, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma.
HeadMaster (D&S Diversified Technologies)
Just like the other test providers, the Headmaster CNA exam is administered in two stages: a written exam and a manual skills exam. The written CNA examination is 75 multiple-choice questions while the clinical skills exam is 3-4 selected skills.
The following states use HeadMaster to administer their CNA exam: Arizona, Arkansas, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, North Dakota, New Jersey, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Wisconsin.

Practice the way you'll be tested
Studying in the same format as the exam helps you get used to the wording, timing, and answer choices before the real test begins.
We designed CNA Plus to make that exam experience feel familiar, from short practice sets to the full simulator.
Our CNA practice tests cover patient care, safety, communication, residents' rights, and the personal care skills included in the official exam.

The time allotted to take the test
There will be questions in the following categories:
- promotion of function and health of residents (health maintenance, psychosocial needs, personal care),
- role of the nurse aide (communication skills, personal responsibilities, roles of team members),
- basic nursing care the nurse aide provides (acute emergencies, routine needs, etc.),
- promotion of safety (comfort and safety, infection prevention, common injuries),
- specific care provided for residents with changes in health (care of the dying resident, physical and psychological problems).
CNA Plus Academy is designed to help you prepare for your Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) test with focused practice, clear explanations, and realistic exam flow.
The site provides free and premium practice tests that simulate the written CNA exam. Questions are reviewed against current nurse aide exam topics, including the NNAAP-style knowledge test used in many states.
