How to perform perineal care
1. Gather supplies. 2. Provide privacy for the patient. 3. Wash hands and put on gloves. 4. With the patient on their back, instruct them to open their legs. 5. Cleanse the perineum, using front to back motions. Use a fresh washcloth for each pass from front to back. 6. Never wash back to front; this causes contamination and can cause infections. 7. Dry the area thoroughly.
