CNA Practice Test: Infection Control

Reviewed by Winona Suzanne Ball, Nursing Adviser, RN | MHS, Governors State University, IL, Full member of the American Nurses Association.

These 20 practice questions will help you prepare for the 2024 CNA examination. The questions are based on the categories that are included in the exam. They are similar (and often identical) to the actual CNA exam questions. Each question has been researched, and the answer verified. Every health care professional is responsible for knowing how to prevent the spread of infection and illness. As a CNA providing direct care, you should be familiar with how pathogens are spread. You must follow protective protocols when caring for patients. Be sure you know what to do before you take the CNA examination.
Topics covered in this practice test include the following:
  • Types and causes of infections
  • Importance of handwashing
  • Using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Preventing the spread of infection
  • Caring for a client in isolation
  • Respiratory etiquette
Each practice question is multiple choice with four answer options. Read the question carefully and select the best answer. If you need help, click on the Hint button that’s under the fourth option. When you select the correct answer, you’ll proceed to the next question. If you make a mistake, an explanation will pop up to reinforce your knowledge. If you miss more than four questions, you can restart the test and try again. Good luck!
